The bonsai here are a sampling of those worked on as an apprentice in Japan, from 2003-2006. Several show a period where I was carefully organizing every shoot, such as the first two images. Afterwards, in the second half of my apprenticeship, I was allowed a more natural and relaxed feeling in the branching and foliage presentation, represented by the last image, which won Mr. Suzuki a Prime Minister’s award.
