The Crataegus Bonsai Seminars have been running for several years and have been very popular. The idea was to offer the expertise of specialists to students who wish to deepen their knowledge of a particular corner of the bonsai universe.
We’ve had Gary Wood out a couple times to talk about plant physiology and early tree development, which was fascinating and a hoot, and also Young Choe for a lecture and workshop with accent plants, which was also fascinating and fun. Steven Voss also gave a presentation about his book of bonsai photographs, In Training, a remarkable intuitive look at bonsai from an outsider. In the future we plan to offer seminars of stones and stands, as well as bonsai.
As the Seminars are given in the bonsai studio, the presentation space is limited. The popularity of these presentations lends a ‘full house’ kind of experience, and so signing up early is definitely recommended.
